Dojo Etiquette

To optimize our training and to ensure the safety of others, please adhere to the following guidelines:
1. New Students will commence as white belts, unless otherwise told by the instructor. NOTE: Kyu levels start at 10th Kyu (white belt with Yellow Stripe)2. Be on time for class. When you arrive late, it is disruptive for the other students and the instructor, and you will lose out on training.
3. Maintain finger/toe nails short.
4. Remove any jewelry/watch/footwear/socks, etc. These are not allowed in the Dojo (training area).
5. Eye-wear must be secured with a strap.
6. Long hair must be tied back.
7. Karate uniform (Gi) /belt must be worn prior to entering the class. The instructor will assist new students.
8. Gi (White Karate Uniform) and Obe (belt):
a. It is mandatory that all students wear a Gi with their designated ranking Obe.
b. We will accept a Gi from another karate discipline as long as it’s white.
c. Black Gi’s are not permitted
d. Kyu ranking from another discipline will be accepted at the sole discretion of the instructor. The student may have to take a qualifying
exam for the instructor to accept the ranking. If you do not have a Gi, you can wear a pant and TShirt. To purchase a Gi,
please provide the instructor with your name and height no later than the second class of each session. Gis are $40.00 each (cash only) and must be paid prior to ordering.
